The role of nations, politics, and more specifically of governments, in so-called democratic countries is supposed to be the legal and elected representation of the people of that country and to seek the highest level of wealth and justice for them all.
However, over the last decades the nations have been rapidly loosing their leading role in global affairs to Financial Pirates, stock exchange and Industrial Corporations.
Instead of nations telling industry what to do, now its "the markets" that tell governments, through heavy lobbying, how to behave. This includes law-making, which as such is completely favorable to what large industry requires, even if goes against common sense, the will of the people or global health (planet & society).
